If you are looking to jump-start your new diet for improved health and fitness but you are not too sure where to begin, you’ve come to the right place. In this post, we are going to give you a break down of how to set SMART goals to help you achieve your desired fitness goals, one step at a time.

Smart Goal Setting

Starting with small goals will be the best way to achieve success when it comes to reaching your dietary goals. The best way to stick to the eating plan will be to make sure you are setting SMART goals:

Specific:

In order for your goals to be specific, you need to understand what you are working towards. If you plan to build muscle/gain weight, then you want to make specific dietary goals to eat more meals. We offer personalised meals to meet any of your goals, from weight loss to extreme mass.

Measurable:

In order to see progress, you will want to be able to measure your goals. For example, you may want to achieve a daily goal of protein intake, therefore you need to be able to measure this by knowing how much protein is in each meal. Here at Diets 2 Go, we label all of our prepared meals with the macronutrients.

Attainable:

One of the most important aspects of goal setting to diet correctly is making sure they are easily achievable. For example, if you want to lose 15 pounds, this will take longer than just a few weeks. So a more attainable goal would be to lose 1-2 pounds per week for 15 weeks. Then you can build on this goal by saying, ‘make sure I hit and track my calories every day’.

Realistic:

Realistic goals are important, as you have to set targets that you know you will be able to achieve. For instance, you may crave chocolate, so rather than saying you will completely cut it out, instead try enjoying it once on a weekend.

Time:

As we’ve said, it is important to pick a realistic timeframe to achieve your goals in. For example, if you know you need to keep a food journal to figure out what you are eating, set the goal of writing down everything you eat for a few weeks and then you can achieve and work on creating timely goals more easily.

Cheat Days (reward Yourself)

The best way to stick to a diet and achieve your goals is by treating yourself, maybe once a week, to have some food that you enjoy. This will give you something tangible to look forward to and it is best if you reward yourself only after you have completed your goals. If you do want to stick to a diet, then reward yourself in another way such as spending more time with friends or enjoying a hobby. We also offer high protein and healthy snacks to help you fight that sweet tooth.

Seek Help

Making new changes to your lifestyle can be overwhelming for some. It can be especially difficult to determine your goals and to know where to start. Diets 2 Go want to help you reach your goal, so we can tailor meals to suit any needs. We even have a section for dietary requirements for people who are dairy-free, have a nut allergy and many more.
